[vc_row][vc_column width=”1/1″][vc_column_text]As we enter into the holiday season, we wanted to share a quick story that reminds us why we are thankful. As a team, nothing makes our job more rewarding than seeing our CMN pastors take pride and ownership in their churches. We exist to be an aid for our churches, but it is our pastors who continuously invest in their communities. We are so thankful for our pastors, their love and discipleship of their people, and the fact that we serve a God who has made each of us with unique talents and passions.
Recently, we were able to visit three of our pastors outside of Webuye, Kenya who have followed God’s vision for their churches in incredible ways. For instance, two of the churches started preschool programs for orphans in their communities, all three are feeding over 200 orphans and widows through K4K, and we were able to hear multiple stories of how the Gospel changed peoples’ lives. However, one church in particular stood out to us.
As we went around the village hearing stories of how the Lord saved and changed lives, we came across four young men in a large hole, covered in mud. We asked a simple question, “What are you doing?” With the biggest smiles on their faces, the response was powerful, “We are working for the Lord.” After a short conversation we discovered that the mud walls of their church were deteriorating due to termite damage, and they were making bricks to build all new walls. These four men may not have had much to give but what they did have, their ability, they gave completely to the Lord. They worked tirelessly to make thousands of bricks to build a place where their community could join together in worship.
These men put into practice Colossians 3:23 in a beautiful way. This was not a glamorous job, and they weren’t doing it to gain recognition or applause. They were simply doing everything they could to serve the God they love.
We are so thankful that we serve a God that instills abilities, passions, and talents in us that we can use for His glory. Maybe He’s blessed you financially, maybe He’s given you the heart of a prayer warrior, or maybe he’s given you a talent to share on the mission field. Whatever it is, our prayer is that you work at everything as working for the Lord, not for man. How is God calling you to serve?
